Dr. Hal Phillips joined the Hyde Eyecare team in 2007. A lifelong resident of Tennessee, Dr. Phillips grew up in Kingsport. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, with a major in Biochemistry. He then earned his Doctorate of Optometry degree in 2007 at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis.
Clinically he has special interests in chronic dry eyes, allergic eyes, and ocular injuries. During his studies in optometry school, Dr. Phillips was involved in activities including BSK Optometric Honors Society, and was awarded 1st and 2nd year Clinical Skills Award.
Dr. Phillips and his wife Mary reside in Knoxville. They have a son, Parker and a daughter, Ellie. The family dog’s name is Daisy. Dr. Phillips enjoys University of Tennessee athletics and is always involved in fantasy football.
