Eyelid Growths or Lid Skin Tags are quite common benign growths that can appear virtually anywhere on the body. They are more common, though, in areas that are subject to rubbing of the skin, and sun exposure areas. They are easily diagnosed based on their appearance.
These fleshy growths tend to increase in number as we grow older, and more than 50 percent of us will have at least one in our lifetime. Interestingly, pregnancy may predispose women to these skin lesions because of hormonal shifts.
Removal of skin tags is relatively simple, though bleeding can sometimes occur. Methods of removal include freezing and electrical destruction, as well as excision with a scalpel for larger skin tags or those with broader bases.
